World's largest and deepest hyperbaric chamber!
The National Hyperbaric Centre in Scotland plans to build the world's largest and deepest test chamber according to divemagazine.co.uk.
The multi-million project at the Aberdeen-based centre will enable researchers to test underwater equipment to depths greater than 5,000m.
The new test chamber is expected to cost anything up to £10 million. It is the latest in a run of ambitious initiatives to celebrate National Hyperbaric Centre's 20th anniversary year.
'There may have been a perception at one time that the centre was just a bunch of dusty, rarely used diving chambers,' said National Hyperbaric Centre managing director David Smith. 'But the centre is about much, much more than that and we are shrugging off that image now, emerging as a sharp, dynamic commercial entity.'
